Mary Kathryn (Stevenson) Turnbough

Mary Kathryn Turnbough, nee Stevenson, of Davisville, MO was born on Tuesday, September 3, 1946, in Fredericktown, MO to William “Bill” L. Stevenson and Anita Stevenson (nee Pickert). She passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, MO on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the age of 75 years, 7 months, and 13 days.

Mary was a long time resident of Davisville, MO and graduated from Cherryville High School.  She married her high school sweetheart, Donald L. Turnbough in March of 1966 in Fredericktown, MO and to this union a son, Michael, was born.  She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at nine years old and had attended First Baptist Church in Viburnum, MO.  Mary and her husband purchased the feed store in Viburnum, MO which they owned and operated for 20 years.  She loved sports, especially basketball and baseball.  She had her own spot in the Viburnum gym while she watched her son, grandchildren, nieces and nephews play ball.  She would drive to all of their high school and college games.  She also enjoyed to watch the St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou.  Mary was very involved in her son’s activities; she ran the bowling league for the boys and organized fundraising for her son’s Senior Class trip in 1986.  Mary liked to crochet, she especially enjoyed cooking and gathering with her family for the holidays. Mary would bake cookies and candy to ship to family members.  She had a love for animals and enjoyed raising hogs and bottle feeding calves.  Most of all, Mary loved her family.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents William “Bill” and Anita Stevenson; parents-in-law Tom and Wilma Turnbough; brothers Harry Stevenson and Allen (Judy) Stevenson; sisters Brenda Priest and Jody Coleman; brothers-in-law Leslie “Dale” Turnbough, Norman Cochran, and Howard Turnbough; and daughter-in-law Jill Turnbough.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Donald L. Turnbough of Davisville, MO; son Mike (Elizabeth) Turnbough of Cuba, MO; sisters-in-law Vicky Stevenson of Cedar Hill, MO and Helen Cochran of Stewart, VA; grandchildren Taylor (Ethan) Sanftner of St. Louis, MO, Gabriel Turnbough and Noah Turnbough both of Cuba, MO; great grandchild Chloe Kathryn Marie of St. Louis, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was Friday, April 22, 2022, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed at 12:00 PM with Rev. Spencer R. Hutson officiating.  The service was live-streamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO's Facebook Page.  Burial was at Sellers Cemetery, Dillard, MO.  Memorials were suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
