Mary Ann (Stengle) Domijan

 Mary Ann Domijan, nee Stengel, of Chesterfield, MO, was born on Sunday, July 31, 1938, in East St. Louis, IL, to Frank J. Stengel and Mary Hellen Stengel, nee Holcak.  She passed away at her home in Chesterfield, MO, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 21 days.

Mary Ann graduated from Notre Dame Academy High School in East St. Louis, IL, in the Class of 1956.  She then went to Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, KS, where she received in bachelor’s in education, and went on to receive her master’s from Harris–Stowe State University in St. Louis, MO.  During her time in college, she met the love of her life, Stanley Domijan, whom she married on July 4, 1959, in East St. Louis, IL, and to this union two children were born.  Mary Ann retired after 31 years of teaching elementary education at the Glasgow Elementary School in the Riverview School District.  She was a member of the Ascension Catholic Church.  She enjoyed traveling with Stan, gardening and raised roses. 

The joy of her life were the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren:

LuAnn with her master's and 30+ years in Education, Stanley III, bachelor’s in Psychology, Biology, & Chemistry.

She said that her grandsons were her birthday gift from God.  Anthony on the 29th, Paul on the 30th, and her's on the 31st of July. Anthony's bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and master’s in Explosive Engineering. Paul's bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and is soon to finish his master’s in Explosive Engineering.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Stengel; parents-in-law, Stanley and Lucille (Lu) Domijan.

Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Stanley Domijan of Chesterfield, MO; children, Lu Ann Domijan of Chesterfield, MO, and Stanley Domijan III. (wife Melinda) of Steelville, MO; grandchildren, Anthony Domijan and Paul Domijan both of Steelville, MO; siblings, Joyce (Husband Jack) Lasker of Atlanta, GA, and Virginia Dirschel (husband Rudy) of Afton, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at St. Joseph Croatian Catholic Church in St. Louis, MO.  Funeral Mass immediately followed at 12:00 PM. There was a funeral dinner reception following the  service. The family chose cremation as her final disposition.

In place of flowers, donations were suggested to Croatian Jr. Tamburitzans, St. Louis, MO, Mount Grace Convent (Pink Sisters), St. Louis, MO, or St Jude Children’s Hospital
