Matthew David Wear

Matthew David Wear, of Arnold, MO, was born on Thursday, June 21, 1979, in St. Louis, MO to David Earl Wear and Carol Majoc Wear, nee Huntington.  He passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at his home in Arnold, MO at the age of 44 years, 10 months, and 18 days.

Matthew was raised in St. Louis, MO and attended Bayless and Steelville High Schools.  He worked in the auto industry as a tire mechanic for twenty-six years and on the weekends, he bartended at his mother’s bar, CT’s, for twenty-three years.  Matthew enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He loved sports and enjoyed playing baseball, softball, and hockey.  Matthew was in a bowling league where he bowled three 300 games and had two 800 series.  He loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Earl and Jacqueline Wear; maternal grandparents Cleet and Alfrieda Edmund; and uncle Wayne Wear.

Matthew is survived by his father David Wear of Arnold, MO; mother Carol Wear of St. Louis, MO; son Brayden Wear of Arnold, MO; brothers Mark Webb of St. Louis, MO and Michael (Diane) Huntington of Cape Girardeau, MO; uncle Allan (Cindy) Wear of St. Peters, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation was from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.  Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Steelville, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to the Brayden Wear Scholarship Fund.
