Kathryn “Maureen” Godbey, nee Chapman, of Steelville, MO, formerly of Cuba, MO, was born on Monday, December 25, 1950 in Rolla, MO to Virgil Chapman and Roberta (Crow) Chapman. She passed away peacefully at her home in Steelville, MO on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 4 days.
Maureen grew up in Cuba, MO and attended Cuba schools. She married Carl Leroy Godbey and to this union three children were born. After Carl passed away, she later married James Jefferson Godbey on May 24, 2008 at the ACTs Church in Steelville, MO. Maureen worked at Brown Shoe for 27 years as a sole cutter until the factory closed, then went to work at San Val until their closing. Maureen was a member of ACTs Church and loved it there dearly. She enjoyed going on car rides, watching hummingbirds and deer from her back porch. She liked flowers, fall colors and watching Hallmark movies. Most of all, she loved her family. She enjoyed her grandchildren and having family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Roberta Chapman; parents-in-law Roy and Clella Godbey; first husband Carl Godbey; second husband James “Jim” Godbey; brother John Chapman and step-daughter Faye Godbey.
She is survived by her children Paula (Davey) O’Neail of Cuba, MO, Mike (Tammy) Godbey of Goodman, MO and Brian Godbey of Steelville, MO; stepchildren Karl Godbey of Naples, FL, Lance Godbey (companion Shannon) of Columbia, MO, Rev. Mark (Vickie) Godbey and Melissa Godbey both of Steelville, MO and Mary Setzer of Lebanon, MO; brother Gary (Beverly) Chapman of Belpre, OH; sisters-in-law Brenda (John) Houston of Enid, OK, Wanda (Vernon) Eads of Festus, MO and Sue Campbell (companion Darrel Brooks) of Steelville, MO; brother-in-law Danny (Linda) Godbey of Lesterville, MO; grandchildren Kristen (Brendon) Holtz, Kandis (John) Heintz, Kimberly Adair, Chassity (Ricky) Miles and Amanda (Blake) Kestler; great grandchildren Mason, Shyann and Ocean Holtz and Colton, Levi and Savannah Heintz; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at ACTs Church (Apostolic Christian Tabernacle) in Steelville, MO. Home Going was at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mark Godbey officiating. Burial was at New Home Cemetery, Cherryville, MO. Memorials were suggested to Delbert Day Cancer Institute Fund (PO Box 261 Rolla, MO 65402) or to the ACTs Church (11896 Hwy 19, Steelville, MO 65565).
