Maxine Amanda Brewer

Maxine A. Brewer nee Hutson of Cuba, MO was born on Saturday, July 15, 1939 to Gentry Hutson and Georgia Elma Warfel Hutson. She passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 2 days.

Maxine graduated from Cherryville High School in 1957 and went to work for Wallace Pencil Co. in St. Louis, MO. She also worked for a couple of the White Castle locations in the St. Louis area. She moved to Cuba in the late 1960’s and worked at Cuba Shoe then Convy Shoe Co. for 8 years. After its closing, she was employed at Brown Shoe in Steelville then Whistle Shoe Factory. Lastly, she worked at Gen Corp. in Cuba for 4 years. She married the love of her life, Vesper Lee Brewer, on December 13, 1974 at Bible Baptist Church in Cuba, MO.  Her hobbies were crossword puzzles and spending time outside and tending to her landscaping. She loved her family and will be greatly missed by them and her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gentry and Georgia Hutson; parents-in-law Lawrence and Florence Brewer; brothers Harvey (Bertha) Hutson, Roy (Hazel) Hutson, Lawrence Hutson, Carl Hutson, Louis (Juanita) Hutson, Harlan "Jack" Hutson and Charles Hutson; sisters Ruthine (Bob) Prater and Wilma (Jerry) Shirley; brothers-in-law Owen Chandler and Stanley Brewer.

Maxine is survived by her husband Vesper Brewer of Cuba, MO; daughter Debbie (David) Crocker of Tyler, TX; son Donald (companion Emy Collins) Brockmeier of Cuba, MO; grandchildren Mathew (Rachel) Brockmeier and Randi (Mark) Spurgeon all of Cuba, MO and Alex Bryan of Springfield, MO; great grandchildren Jacob, Tatum and Eli Brockmeier, Landin, Harper, and Wyatt Spurgeon all of Cuba, MO, Charlotte, Dustin, and Adelaide Bryan all of Springfield, MO; brother Richard Hutson and sister Iona (Bill) Alvey all of Cuba, MO; sisters-in-law Linda Hutson of Maplewood, MO, Mildred Brewer of Cuba, MO and Patricia Chandler of St. James, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO.  Funeral Service was at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO with Rev. Spencer Hutson officiating. Burial was at Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, MO.

Memorials were suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
