Michael Thomas Wurtz, of Cuba, MO, was born on Sunday, August 19, 1951 in St. Louis, MO to Charles Wurtz, Jr. and Rosemary Wurtz, nee Ballard. He passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 4 days.
Michael attended Southwest High School. He worked for Chrysler for over 30 years before retiring. He married Lynnice Ann Jinkerson on February 14, 1973 in St. Louis, MO, and to this union two daughters were born. He later married Sherry “Alvin” Ann Hill on July 27, 1992 in Steelville, MO and together they raised one son, Justin. He attended and was an active member at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cuba, MO and later the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. James, MO. Michael was a member of the Teamsters Local 600 and volunteered as a Boy Scout leader in Cuba, MO. Michael enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger years. Michael enjoyed being out doors, whether it was hunting for turkey and deer, fishing or camping. He especially enjoyed being on the river, going to Fagan’s at the bridge also known as Scott’s Ford. He loved music, specifically the 70’s and the blues, dancing, and going to concerts. Michael was a die-hard Cardinals fan and Redskins fan. Most of all, Michael loved his family.
Michael was preceded in death by his father Charles Wurtz, Jr.; mother Rosemary Ballard and his brother Richard “Ricki” Wurtz.
Michael is survived by his children Sarah (Irieno) Medina of St. Louis, MO, Suzanne Wurtz of Eureka, MO and Justin Ray (Mickey) of Cuba, MO; step son Joe Brown of Cuba, MO; siblings Teri (Joe) Haberstroh of St. Louis, MO and Denise Warren of Desoto, MO; grandchildren Deacon Rodriguez, Luis (Keri) Medina, Elliot Guzman, Cruz Medina, DeMarco Medina, Branden Houston and Evelyn Ray; 3 step granddaughters; great grandchildren Ava Rodriguez, Ezra Rodriguez, and Elijah Guzman; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Father Greg Meystrik officiating. The family chose cremation as his final disposition.
