Norma Lee King of Bourbon, MO was born on Sunday, November 2, 1930, in Naylor, MO to Raymond H. Atwell and Wilma Blanche Vester Atwell. She passed away at Life Care Center in Sullivan, MO on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the age of 92 years, 11 months, and 12 days.
Norma married her soulmate, Elmer Eugene King on October 13, 1948 in St. Louis County and to this union five children were born. She had made a profession of faith early in life and was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church, Leasburg, MO. She sang in the choir and taught children's Sunday School classes for many years. She was employed as a quality control inspector at the Ramsey Corporation in Sullivan, MO, a subsidiary of TRW, for a number of years. When the company moved to St. Louis, MO, she continued working for them until her retirement in 1990. She also volunteered many hours at the Thrift Shop in Bourbon, MO. Her hobbies included quilting, reading, and watching and feeding birds, with her favorites being the blue birds and hummingbirds. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Wilma Atwell; husband Gene King; son David King; sisters-in-law Ethel (Robert) Body, Viola (Ray) Sappington, Alma (Roy) Woods, and Marie (Lloyd) Adams; brothers-in-law James Pagones, Edward King, Jim (Golden) King, Alvin (Ina) King, Wilbur (Irene) King, Maurice Ray, and Charles Schaeffer.
Norma is survived by her children Phillip (Leslie) King, Dan (Sheila) King, Diane (Gary) Dillon all of Bourbon, MO, and Matt (Sherry) King of Leslie, MO; brother Ronald (Karen) Atwell of Mt. Dora, FL; sister Shirley Pagones of Slidell, LA; brother-in-law Clarence (Dorothy) King of Sullivan, MO; sisters-in-law Alice Ray and Betty Schaeffer both of Fenton, MO and Joyce King of Sullivan, MO; 13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 12:00 PM. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Crossroads Cemetery.
Memorials were suggested to Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, MO.
