Patricia "Pat" Ann (Holthaus) Volz

Patricia Volz nee Holthaus of Cuba, MO was born in St. Louis, MO on Monday, March 1, 1943 to Paul R. Holthaus and Grace Elizabeth (Eck) Holthaus. She passed away in Cuba, MO on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 27 days.

Patricia grew up in St. Louis, MO, and accepted the Lord at a young age. She graduated from Aquinas High School, St. Louis, MO and went on to pursue her RN degree from DePaul School of Nursing, St. Louis, MO. While she was in nursing school she met her future husband, John Volz, Jr. They were married on September 26, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Florissant, MO, and to this union two children were born. She worked as an Occupational Health Nurse for the following companies: Krey Packing (meat packaging), Ford Motor Company, Mallinckrodt (chemicals), Emerson Electric, Super Valu (grocery warehouse), and Monsanto. She lived with her family in the Spanish Lake area of St. Louis until her husband's retirement, and after that they moved to Indian Hills Lake in Cuba, MO. She commuted to work at Monsanto until her own retirement. She sponsored 12 foreign exchange students over the years. The first ten were boys from Germany and the last two were girls from Kazakhstan. She formed life long friendships from these sponsorships, and they catapulted her love of travel. Her life long passion was garage saling and thrifting, and she pursued this most often together with her best friend, Sue O'Fallon. She volunteered her years of experience and expertise at her church's annual rummage/garage sales. She enjoyed the post retirement lake atmosphere of boating and playing Bunko with her lady friends at the lake. She was a member of Indian Lake Ladies Auxillary. She participated in the annual Relay for Life for many years. She loved spending time with her family and friends and remained active until her health declined around Christmas of 2019.

She was preceded in death by her husband John A. Volz, Jr.; parents Paul and Grace Holthaus; parents-in-law John A. Volz Sr. and Margaret (McGrane) Volz.; brother Bob Holthaus; and sister-in-law Mary Holthaus.

She is survived by her son John A. Volz III of Alcova, WY; daughter Krista M. Adams of O'Fallon, MO; brothers Mike Holthaus of Quincy, IL, John Holthaus and Tom (Peggy) Holthaus all of Florissant, MO; sisters-in-law Linda Holthaus of Bowling Green, KY, Jayne (Gordon) Pitney of Naples, FL, and Joy Marshall of Flagstaff, AZ; granddaughters Emily G. Adams and Sophia M. Adams and both of O'Fallon, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 6:00PM - 8:00PM on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Funeral Mass was at 11:00AM on Monday, August 3, 2020.  Father Dan Lueckenott officiated. Burial was at Sewell Cemetery, St. James, MO. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
