Patricia "Patty" Quinton Obituary

Patricia “Patty” Kathleen Quinton of Steelville, MO was born on Sunday, August 8, 1971 in Rolla, MO to Arthur Lewis Whitman and Virginia Mae (Quinton) Whitman.  She passed away at her home on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the age of 48 years, 5 months and 26 days.

Patty attended Cuba High School.  She lived most of her life in Steelville, MO and had accepted the Lord early in life.  She married Curtis Charles Hayes in the summer of 1992 and to this union a daughter, Jessica Nicole Hayes, was born.  Later on she had a daughter, Angelia Diane Stubbs, with Andrew Jackson Stubbs III and a daughter, Jamie Marie Simpson, with her current boyfriend Mark Anthony Simpson. Patty had a bubbly personality, could always make you smile and lit up every room she was in.  She would always take people in regardless of the circumstance.  She enjoyed to sing and dance, especially karaoke with Jessica.  She loved to cook and tell stories about when she was younger.  She enjoyed being around friends and family, being outdoors with her kids and had a special place in her heart for her kid’s fathers.  She loved her cat Shadow, who she called Swag.  Most of all, her kids and grandkids were her whole world and she didn’t go a day without being with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Lewis Whitman and Virginia Mae “Memaw” “Jean” Whitman; brother James “Jimmy” Quinton and sister Vicki Whitman.

She is survived by her companion Mark Simpson of Steelville, MO; daughters Jessica Hayes (Billy Vanderpoel), Angelia Stubbs and Jamie Simpson all of Steelville, MO; stepchildren Justin Mercer of and Kelly Hayes of Steelville, MO and April Hayes of Bourbon, MO; grandsons Victor Bolk and Zyler Hayes; siblings Michael Quinton, David Whitman and Barbra (Dewayne) Hardin all of Steelville, MO, Donna Whitman-Setzer and Judy Whitman both of Cuba, MO, Chris West (Bobby James) and Laura Linthorst both of Pevely, MO, Ken Whitman of Phoenix, AZ and Brenda White of Lampe; honorary sisters Melinda Hemby Painter of Mountain Home, AR, Norma Griggs Destifanes of St. James, MO and Heather Studdard of Cuba, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family chose cremation as her final disposition.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date at her sister, Barbra Hardin’s home.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the family.
