Paul W. Thacker of Leasburg, MO, was born on Friday, January 31, 1936, in Huntington, WV to Ethel Thacker. He passed away at his home in Leasburg, MO on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 12 days.
Paul attended and graduated high school in Huntington, WV. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for two years. Paul then enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably for 20 years before retiring. While in the military, Paul took college courses and then taught heating, air conditioning and electrical classes. He served on large carriers and was well traveled. Upon discharge from the military, Paul was employed by Ford Glass Company for 18 years before retiring.
Paul was married to Evelyn Thacker for 33 years until her death in 1993 and two children were born to this union. Paul met Eula “Yvonne” Turner at a birthday party, and they were married on March 28, 1994, in Steelville, MO. He had accepted the Lord as his personal Savior early in life and witnessed to everyone he met. Paul was a member and attended the First Baptist Church of Leasburg, MO. He enjoyed leatherworks, making wallets, purses, etc. He loved to paint and was a talented artist. Paul also loved to work and build various things. He was a member of the Bourbon American Legion Post 81 for 20 years. Paul loved his family and spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ethel Thacker; first wife Evelyn Thacker; parents-in-law Clair (Eunice) Turner; sisters-in-law Maxine Little and LaVerna (Thomas) Forbus; great grandson Vincent Blevins.
Paul is survived by his wife of 28 years, Yvonne Thacker; children Michael (Lisa) Thacker of Ruskin, FL, Michelle Thacker of Fayetteville, AR, Vickie (Roger) Studdard of Sullivan, MO, and Pam (Darin) Sullivan of Longdale, OK; grandchildren Chase Hanby of Denver, CO, Hallie Hanby of Fayetteville, AR, Roger (Angela) Studdard, Jr, Donald Studdard, and Ryan (Kim) Studdard all of Sullivan, MO, Travis (Brittney) Sullivan of Longdale, OK, and Jaycee Sullivan of Canton, OK; great grandchildren Jade Studdard, Paul Studdard, Dylan Studdard, and Nick Blevins all of Sullivan, MO, and Niko Duenez of Canton, OK; brothers-in-law Dwain (Jan) Turner of Ava, MO and Wesley Little of Benton, KS; other relatives and many friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Leasburg with Pastor Keith Neece officiating and full military honors. The family has chosen cremation as his final disposition.
