Raymond A. Leslie of Steelville, MO was born on Tuesday, June 2, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to Richard Vernon Leslie and Anna Celeste (Williams) Leslie. He passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Cedar Pointe Nursing Home in Rolla, MO at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 8 days.
Raymond graduated from Cuba High School. After graduating, he joined the United States Navy where he served his country honorably for four years during the Cuban Crisis. When he returned home, he worked at McDonnell Douglas for a year, then moved to Reno, NV where he was a hotel maintenance manager and worked for Harold’s Club. He enjoyed attending the “Burning Man” event each year in the desert where he rented bicycles to those wishing to participate. Raymond was a survivalist. He loved to read, especially science fiction novels. He enjoyed to write horror stories and watching war movies, specifically World War II. Most of all, Raymond loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Anna Leslie; sister-in-law Sharon Lee Leslie and niece Angela J. Simpson.
He is survived by his son Michael (Daphne) Mallow of New Bedford, MA; granddaughter Aurora Mallow; brothers David Leslie, Sr. of Steelville, MO and Lawrence “Vernon” (Carrie) Leslie of Springfield, MO; nieces and nephew Leanne (Larry) Hankins of St. James, MO, David Leslie, Jr. and Anna Wadlow both of Cuba, MO and Sharon Leslie of MO; cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed with Rev. Don Wissmann officiating and full military honors. The family chose cremation as his final disposition and will later be buried at Kinder Cemetery in Cuba, MO.
