Rebecca Maples Obituary

Rebecca Jean Maples of Cuba, MO was born on Friday, September 7, 1951, in Cabool, MO to Bernard O. Brown and Wanda Marvalee Brown, nee Gunkel.  She passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at her residence at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 17 days.

She attended schools in Pacific MO and took several classes in general studies at Jefferson College.  Rebecca worked for 30 years in the healthcare industry as a CNA and retired from BJC in Sullivan, MO.  She accepted the Lord early in life and attended Delhi Baptist Church.  She met and married Terry Dewayne Maples on October 15, 1999, at Meramec Valley Campground in Cuba, MO.

When she was young, Rebecca enjoyed horseback riding on her horse “Mrs. Ed.” In later years, she loved painting folk art, playing the piano both at home and at church, and recipe surfing on the web.  Her family’s favorite treat was her “amazing” cinnamon rolls.  She sewed and crocheted dolls and sold them in her store near Lake of the Ozarks. Rebecca also managed her husband’s Elvis Shows.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her father Bernard Brown; mother Wanda Daniel; stepfather Jack Daniel; parents-in-law Junior (wife Maxine) Maples; and son Cory Alexander Muir.

She is survived by her husband Terry Maples of Cuba, MO; daughters Christa (husband Doug) Peters of Villa Ridge, MO and Timberlee (husband Jason) Minor of Cuba, MO; son David (wife Ashley) Hendrix of Waynesville, MO; sister Beverly Biermann of Union, MO; brother-in-law Kenny (wife Cheryl) Maples of Poplar Bluff, MO; sister-in-law Karen Brown of Villa Ridge, MO and Betty Scott of Villa Ridge, MO; caregiver and granddaughter Brooklyn Snodgrass; 14 additional grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family chose cremation as her final disposition.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

All arrangements under the care of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO.
