Rev. Windle C. Starns of Leasburg, MO, was born on Friday, April 03, 1942, in Gideon, MO to Noah Earl Starns and Della Cordelia Starns, nee Loughary. He passed away at his residence in Leasburg, MO on Monday, February 27, 2023, at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
Windle married the love of his life, Bonnie Sue Heifner on May 30, 1959 in Poplar Bluff, MO. He entered the United States Army where he served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airbourne during the Vietnam Era. He was honorably discharged on December 31, 1968. Windle earned a Master of Divinity and had over 440 hours of clinical pastoral education. He pastored numerous churches in different states through the years, including Covenant Praise Church of God in Cuba, MO. He served on the Missouri Church of God State Council, the State Examining Board and as a Hospice Chaplain. His church work and winning souls to Christ was his passion in life. Windle also enjoyed hunting, riding his tractor and mowing, and cattle farming. He loved music, playing electric, steel, and bass guitars, piano, and writing his own songs and singing. He passed his love of music to many of his family members. Windle adored spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Noah and Della Starns; parents-in-law Hershel and Eva Heifner; brother A.R. Kenneth Starns; sisters Berneice (Joy) Hill; Earlene (Howard) Kisner; brothers-in-law Leman Cagle, Calvin Loughary, Pete O’Brien, Jerry McGee, Paul (Barbara) Heifner and Curtis Hendrix; and sister-in-law Mary Katherine (Robert) Haynes.
Windle is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Bonnie Sue Starns of Leasburg, MO; children Pamela and husband Dan Snavley of Sandy, OR, Windella “Wendy” and husband Poncho Holland of Leasburg, MO, Dewayne and wife Gail Starns Brand of Wickliffe, OH, and Donald and wife Darla Starns of Fort Wayne, IN; sister Barbara Loughary of Emory, TX; sisters-in-law Erma O’Brien of St. Louis, MO and Elizabeth McGee of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Adam Snavley of Billings, MT, Brandon (Tara) Snavley of Sandy, OR, Joshua (Rebecca) Hester of Dudley, MO, Angela Hester of Leasburg, MO, Michalina (Brady) Littler of Biwabik, MN, Marvin (Stacy) Holland, Laura Holland (Katie) Killeen, Gabriel (fiancée Megan) Holland all of Cuba, MO, Devon (Jola) Holland of Chicago, IL, Curtis (Michelle) Holland, Noah Holland, Joanna Holland, Isaac Holland, Sophia Holland, Joel Holland, David Holland, Mercy “Tater” Holland, Kiara all of Leasburg, MO, Jacklyn (Scott) Gnau, Jeremy Brand both of Akron, OH, and Cory (Jonnie) Starns of Harrisburg, IL; great grandchildren Alease Snavley, Jorga Snavley both of Billings MT, Isabella Snavley, Brenlee Snavley, Kaylee Snavley all of Sandy, OR, Olivanna Hester, Luke Hester, Avalyn Hester all of Dudley, MO, Kailey (Tyler) Day of Cuba, MO, Jayden Burke, Rebekah Burke both of Leasburg, MO, Xander Burke of Park Hills, MO, Alyssa Kneisel, Royce Littler, Nash Littler all of Biwabik, MN, Tessa Holland, Hanna Holland both of Cuba, MO, Colton (Kayla) Holland of Sullivan, MO, Dayton Killeen, Cameron Killeen both of Springfield, MO, Eryka Killeen of Cuba, MO, Amela Holland of Chicago, IL, Eisley Gnau, Adelyn Brand, Madelyn Brand all of Akron, OH, CJ Starns, Raelee Starns, both of Harrisburg, IL; great great grandchildren Penelope Day of Cuba, MO and Marston Holland of Sullivan, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 05:00 PM - 08:00 PM on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Covenant Praise Church of God, Cuba, MO at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joshua Hester officiating. Burial will be at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, MO with full Military Honors.
