Robert "Bob" Lee Asher

Robert "Bob" Lee Asher of Cherryville, MO was born on Friday, August 21, 1936 in Douglas, AZ to William "Bill" Elmer Asher and Hazel A. (Worley) Asher. He passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at St. James Community Living Center in St. James, MO at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 25 days.

Bob graduated from Cherryville High School.  Right after school, he married Wanda Faye Dunlap on December 15, 1956 in Steelville, MO at the Assembly of God Church (which is now the current day Hutson Funeral Home) and to this union four children were born. After they married, they moved to St. Louis where Bob worked as a carpet layer and owned his own business, Asher Carpet and Tile for over 30 years. In 1982 they returned to Crawford County where they made their home in Cherryville.  He worked as a school bus driver in Viburnum for 5 years.  Wanda and Bob were previous members at the 1st Baptist Church of Cherryville and he had accepted the Lord early in life.  He enjoyed bird watching with Wanda.  He loved to hunt and fish and had a fishing club called Leaping Lunkers.  He taught his whole family how to lay carpet (which he hired and fired them all, even his dad for wearing wife beaters and jeans when he told them not to).  Bob was a big jokester and lit up every room he was in.  Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grand kids and great grand kids.

He was preceded in death by his parents William "Bill" and Hazel Asher; parents-in-law Herman and Frona Dunlap; wife Wanda Faye Asher; children Pamela Sue Asher and Robert "Wade" Asher; son-in-law Jeff Mitchell; siblings Randy Asher, Billy Asher, Johnny Asher, Ronald Asher and Louise Solis; brothers-in-law Louis Dicus, Jerry McMillen and Elmer Jones; sisters-in-law Berneal (Stanley) Martin and Ann Asher; grandson-in-law Chris Deason and step-grandchild Jeanie Swartz.

He is survived by his daughters Tammy (Jim) Smith of Hillsboro, MO and Yvonne (Rick) Leuthauser of St. James, MO; siblings Fritz Asher, Bonnie Jones, Judy Dicus and Karen (Rob) Sikes all of Steelville, MO, Wanda McMillen of TX, Tina Asher of Ozark, MO, Linda (Bill) Dodd of Cuba, MO and Cathy (Brian) Tucker of Salem, MO; grandchildren Lindsey Ehrmann, Lacey (Zach) McCutcheon, Lesley Deason, Luke (Shelby) Smith, Destiny (Scott) Wisdom, Jacob Mitchell, Gabrielle (boyfriend Anthony) Asher and Taylor (Brenda) Asher; step grandchildren Jamie (Dennis) Leuthauser and Jessica Leuthauser; great grandchildren Asher, Zephyr, Lilah, Ian, Adelaide,  Athena, Ellie, Rosalee, Avery and Magnolia; step great grandchildren Madison, MaKayla, Aden, Ian S. and Dominic; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service was at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO, with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.  The family chose cremation as his final disposition.
