Rodney Coleman of Columbia, Missouri, was born on Monday, August 30, 1965 in Shreveport, LA to George R. Jensen and Virine Pender, nee Butler. He passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Stonecrest Health, Viburnum, MO at the age of 58 years, 7 months and 28 days.
At a young age, Rodney was adopted and raised by Billy Joe Coleman and Mary Farmer Coleman. He graduated high school in 1986 and earned a full scholarship to University of Missouri - Columbia for his outstanding athletical ability in track and basketball. During his third year of college, he lost his leg in a work accident and was no longer able to play sports. He then went back to school to became an LPN and loved working in the medical field for several years.
As a nurse, he was respectful, kind and dedicated when caring for his patients. He was also known to be adventurous and enjoyed being outdoors. He adored spending time with his family, especially his sons, Colt, Case, and Chase. He will be greatly missed by all his family.
Rodney was preceded in death by his loving parents, Billy and Mary Coleman; brother Bill (Eva) Coleman; and nephews Timothy Thielemann and William Coleman.
He is survived by his sons Colt Edward Coleman, Case Roger Coleman, and Chase Rowdy Coleman all of Perryville, MD; brothers Robert “Bob” (Carol) Coleman of Cherryville, MO, Billy (Dena) Coleman of Steelville, MO, Randy (Brittany) Rebura of Wright City, MO, Ricky Rebura of Mansfield, MO and Ronnie (Heather) Rebura of Nixa, MO; sisters Noma (Ron) Burkholder of OK, Mary (Butch) Brown of Bentonville, AR, Carol Thielemann of Cuba, MO, Tracy Case (partner Cory Romaker) of Herman, MO, Bonita (Mike) Lottman of Union, MO, Retta Russell (companion Jeff Asher) of Viburnum, MO and Misty (Larry) Harmon of Cherryville, MO; children’s Baby Momma Kelsey Sapp of Perryville, MD; companion Amy Meyer of Columbia, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 7:00 PM with Bro. Mike Morton officiating. The service was live streamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville MO’s Facebook page. Following Rodney’s wishes, the family chose cremation as his final disposition.
In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
All arrangements are under the care of Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.
