Rosalee Bishop Obituary

Rosalee Gail Bishop, nee Rutherford, of Steelville, MO was born on Sunday, June 30, 1940 in Nitro, WV to George Dewey Rutherford and Devona Madeline Rutherford, nee Giles.  She passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Phelps Health Hospital in Rolla, MO at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 10 days.

Rosalee graduated from Nitro High School in West Virginia with the Class of 1958.  She married Thomas Benjamin Trowbridge on May 6, 1965 in West Virginia and to this union three daughters, Linda, Ann and Barbara, were born.  She later married Ronald Allen Bishop on May 6, 1988 at the courthouse in Steelville and gained two more daughters, Mary and Becky.  Rosalee was a natural caregiver and worked as a nurse's aide in West Virginia and then at Gibbs Care Center after moving to Steelville.  She enjoyed to stay busy and loved the outdoors; whether it was fishing, gardening, planting flowers or watching wildlife.  She especially enjoyed watching the hummingbirds.  Rosalee was always considerate of others and made them feel important. When she’d receive a gift from someone she would always tell them it was her favorite color; even if it was different from the day before.  Most of all, Rosalee enjoyed being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Devona Rutherford; husband Ronald Bishop; parents-in-law Kenneth and Ava Bishop; 2 brothers: Carl and Bobby; 5 sisters: Janet, Maysel, Alberta, Helen and Betty.

Rosalee is survived by her daughters Linda (Terry) Glenn of Owensville, MO, Ann Rogers of St. James, MO and Barbara (George) Counts of Steelville, MO; step-daughters Mary (Lisa) Riley of Springfield, MO and Becky Bishop of Cassville, MO; grandchildren Jonathon (Shelby) Counts of Salem, MO, Heather (Ryan) Kleinert of IN, Christy Politte (companion Craig Erb) of New Haven, MO, Brandon Glenn (companion Sheridan Edler) of Owensville, MO, Bradley Trowbridge of Steelville, MO, Amber (Blake) Thompson of St. James, MO, Melissa Rogers of Summersville, MO and Bailey Corlett of MO; sister Tillie Wymer of TX; brothers-in-law David (Ella Jo) Bishop of Berryman, MO, Dale Bishop of WY and Russell (Linda) Bishop of Steelville, MO; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
