Rose Tucker Obituary

Rose A. Tucker, nee Tyrrell, of Sullivan, MO and formerly of Cuba, MO, was born on Friday, September 7, 1923 in Marshalltown, IA to William Fitz Tyrrell and Alma Tyrrell (nee Turner).  She passed away at her daughter’s home in Malibu, CA on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the age of 98 Year, 9 Months and 5 days.

Rose graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Marshalltown, IA.  In 1949, she received her RN from St. Joseph Hospital School in Ottumwa, IA and her BSN in 1950 from Marycrest College in Davenport, IA.  Rose worked for 40 years as a nurse in the operating room, which she dearly loved.  She had worked at Little Company Hospital in Torrance, CA where she later retired.  She married the love of her life, Doyle Tucker, on December 28, 1957 and to this union, 5 children were born.  Rose was a member of Holy Cross Church in Cuba, MO and later attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, MO.  She was devoted to her faith, extremely thoughtful, patient, intelligent and very articulate.  Rose was an accomplished artist, whose works have been on display at several area establishments.  She was a talented pianist.  Rose stayed physically active throughout her life and competed in Senior Olympics.  She loved genealogy, mystery thrillers, going out to eat and homemade glazed donuts.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by many of her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Alma Tyrrell; parents-in-law William and Pearl Tucker; husband Doyle Tucker; brothers William Tyrrell, Edward Tyrrell and David (Florence) Tyrrell; brother-in-law Darrell (Louise) Tucker; sister-in-law Geraldine (Luther) Pillow; son-in-law Peter Hellmann; granddaughter Angel Rose Tucker; great grandchildren David Kampmann III., June Bauer and Tucker Bauer.

Rose is survived by her children Julie Hellmann of Malibu, CA, Georgianna (Bill) Gray of Cuba, MO, Joe Tucker of Long Beach, CA, Bill Tucker of Prescott, AZ and Gretchen (Mike) Dudenhoeffer of Freeburg, MO; 11 grandchildren, Shelley, Don, Crystal, William, Emily, Matthew, Amber, Marci, Sissy, Anton and David; 20 great grandchildren Edward, Patience, Ty, Parker, Xavier, Aurora, Rhiannon, Liam, Desmond, Mara, Ozzy, Seth, Anton IV, Sebastion, Abigail, Madison, Benjamin, Tobias, Malakai and Athena; great great grandson Ashton; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, MO.  Funeral Mass immediately followed at 10:30 AM with Rev. Dan Merz officiating.  Burial was at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Bourbon, MO.
