Rosemary Teresa (Lease) Moorefield

Rosemary Teresa Moorefield, nee Lease, of Steelville, MO was born on Tuesday, January 7, 1930 in Baltimore, MD to August Leroy Lease and Lydia Mary Magrogan Lease.  She passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 24 days.

Rosemary was raised and attended school in Maryland by her mom and aunts. Her aunts played an influential role in her upbringing due to her mom's health. She worked at Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company (C&P) "Bell Telephone" (now Verizon) as an operator and worked her way up to management through the various company changes. She worked for H & R Block at night. She married Melvin Stanislaus Shirley in 1952 in Baltimore, MD, and to this union five children were born. Melvin passed away in 1956, just four years after they were married. In 1978 she married James "Jim" Temple Moorefield. In 1983 they retired from their jobs and moved to Flintstone, MD.  She later began working for Cumberland Road District in Cumberland, MD, and after that worked for the Gaming Commission as well as launched her own tax business. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, knitting, cooking and going for drives. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and seeing her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Lydia Lease; first husband Melvin Stanislaus Shirley; second husband James "Jim" Temple Moorefield; infant daughter Jeanie Shirley; children Diane "Dee" Knott, Elaine Storck and Stanislaus Shirley; brother John Lease; stepson-in-law Glenn Johnson;

She is survived by her daughter Paula (Eugene) Lea of Steelville, MO; step-children Jimmy (Dawn) Moorefield of Baltimore, MD, Regina Johnson of Joppa, MD and David Moorefield of Glen Bernie, MD; brother John “Jackie” Lease of WV; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family chose cremation as her final disposition.  There will not be any services held at this time.  Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association.
