Samuel Floyd Brooks

Samuel Floyd Brooks of Steelville, MO was born on Wednesday, December 26, 1945 in St. Louis, MO to Dannie Amos Brooks and Mary Christina (Evans) Brooks.  He passed away at his home on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 13 days.

Samuel had served our country honorably in the United States Navy.  He was a Commercial Welder for Nixdorf Chain Company in St. Louis, MO and was skilled at his trade.  He married Melody Constance Duckett on August 29, 1966 in St. Louis, MO and to this union three children were born.  Samuel’s passions were deer hunting, fishing and bowling.  After Melody passed away, he moved to the country and loved his country life.  He enjoyed bowling leagues, fishing for crappie, gigging and was known to be the family fish fryer.   He loved his dog, Peaches.  Most of all, Samuel loved his family and friends and spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dannie & Mary Brooks; wife Melody (nee Duckett) Brooks; parents-in-law Aubrey & Norma Duckett; brothers Dale Brooks, Charlie Brooks and Chester (Dorothy) Brooks; sister Doris Coleman.

Samuel is survived by his daughters Tammy (Bruce) Crawford of Chesterfield, MO, Laura (William) Evans of Bismark, MO and Samantha Brooks of Springfield, MO; four grandchildren Tyler Crawford, Elizabeth Crawford, Michael Brooks and Dustin Brooks; brother Joe Brooks of St. Charles, MO, Ruth Ann (Milton) Dornseif of Arnold, MO and Rita Mahurin of West Plains, MO; sister-in-law Jean Brooks of Steelville, MO; brother-in-law Leonard Coleman of Wright City, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed with military honors at 12:00 PM with Rev. Alan Miles officiating.  There was a private burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  Memorials were suggested to the family to help with funeral expenses or to the American Heart Association.
