Shelvie Jean (Fogle) Ryan

Shelvie Jean Ryan nee Fogle of Steelville, MO, previously of Rockwood, PA, was born on Wednesday, June 2, 1937 in Berlin, PA to Robert Fogle and Virginia Rose (Logue) Fogle.  She passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the age of 83 years and 15 days.

Shelvie graduated from Berlin Brothersvalley School District in Somerset, PA in 1955.  She then graduated from Windber Hospital Training School for Nurses.  Shelvie worked as a RN in Cardiac Care at Somerset Hospital for 20 years and retired in 2002.  She married Terrance Dennis Ryan in Virginia on October 17, 1958 and to this union four children were born.  While in Pennsylvania, Shelvie attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  She was a member of the crafting group, Knotty Knotters where they were active in quilting, embroidery and crocheting.  Shelvie was an artist, she was always the one to decorate for activities at a Lutheran Church in her community.  Shelvie was passionate about helping people, she always took part in Operation Christmas Child and crocheted dolls for the boxes that went overseas and crocheted hats for cancer patients at hospitals.  She especially loved her 18 year old dachshund Arnie.  Most of all, Shelvie loved her family.

 She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Fogle and Virginia Saylor and sister-in-law Barb Fogle.

She is survived by her children Shawn (Tracee) Ryan of Raytown, MO, Stacie (Walter) Korte of Steelville, MO, Gregory (Michelle) Ryan of Lake Lotawana, MO and Trishelle Ryan of Joplin, MO; grandchildren Joshua Ryan and Rebekah Ryan both of Kansas City, MO, Katrina Korte (companion Jake Travis) and Richard (Kayla) Korte both of Cuba, MO, William Korte of Sullivan, MO and Maryanne Korte of Steelville, MO; brother Roland Fogle of Berlin, PA; sisters Caroline (Michael) Carbough of Hagerstown, MO and Cindy Fogle of  Somerset, PA; 7 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO with Rosary at 12:00 PM.  Funeral Mass immediately followed at 1:00 PM at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Steelville, MO with Father Dan Lueckenotte officiating.  The family chose cremation to follow and a burial will later be at St. Michael's Cemetery.
