Shirley Westrup Obituary

Shirley Faye Westrup, nee Rackley, of Davisville, MO, was born on Friday, March 12, 1943, in Akers, MO to Daniel William Rackley and Viola Verdeen Rackley (nee Herrien).  She passed away at her home on Thursday, 26, 2024, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 14 days.

Shirley attended 27 different schools while growing up. She attended elementary school at Rector, Flatt, Cedar Point, Simpson, on Blair’s Creek, Shannondale, and Timber, MO.  She attended three years of high school in Salem, MO and then graduated from Steelville High School in 1960.  Shirley married Robert “Bob” Eaton on June 11, 1960, and to this union one daughter, Debra Ann Eaton was born.  Shirley worked for Brown Shoe Company for thirty years primarily as an insole caser, retiring when the plant closed.  She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior when she was 12 years old at the Assembly of God Church in Salem, MO.   She later married the love of her life, Walter Henry Westrup, on December 19, 1987, at their home on the farm, in Davisville, MO where they raised cattle.  Shirley enjoyed reading, fishing, photography, gardening, her hummingbirds, and farming with Walter.  Most of all, she loved her family.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Westrup; parents Daniel and Viola Rackley; grandparents Daniel and Fronia Rackley and Charles and Racie Herron; parents-in-law George and Grace Westrup; brother-in-law Warren Westrup; infant nieces Michelle Hibbs and Melissa Rackley.

Shirley is survived by her children Debra Eaton-Watkins (husband John) of St. James, MO, Katherine Shaw (husband David) of Silex, MO and Wade Westrup (wife Tammy) of Davisville, MO; brothers Dennis Rackley of Hallsville, MO, Ronnie Rackley (wife Cathy) of Centralia, MO and Danny Rackley (wife Marcia) of Columbia, MO; sisters Donna Hibbs (husband Ray) and Karen Stone (husband Don) both of Hallsville, MO; brother-in-law Phillip Westrup (wife Deborah) of Cherryville, MO; sister-in-law Judy Westrup of Union, MO; grandchildren Brittany Barton (husband Mark), Skyler Westrup (wife Lexi) and Victoria Chandler (husband Caleb) all of Viburnum, MO, Caleb Ritter of MT, Cody Shaw (wife Hannah) of Cuba, MO and Logan Shaw of Silex, MO;  great grandchildren Wyatt Shaw, Grady Barton, Drew Barton, Wriley Chandler, Jack Westrup and Andie Westrup; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO. Funeral Service was at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. The Service was live-streamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO's Facebook Page.  Burial was at Sligo Cemetery, Salem, MO.  Memorials were suggested to Sligo Cemetery (c/o Virginia Waites 983 County Road 4480  Salem, MO 65560).
