Shon Lee Burke, of Steelville, MO, was born on Wednesday, November 15, 1978, in Rolla, MO to Glenda Irene Hance, nee Burke. He passed away at his home in Steelville, MO on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the age of 46 years, 10 months, and 29 days.
Shon was a resident of Crawford County for most of his life and graduated from Steelville High School in the Class of 1997, where he enjoyed playing baseball. Upon graduation, Shon enlisted in the United States Navy and was shortly after medically discharged. Shon married Angela Dawn Hester in 2002 and together they had 4 children. He later married Angela Lynne Griffith in 2010. Shon attended the Police Academy in Union, MO and served with the St. James and Bourbon Police Departments. He owned his own construction company, Custom Construction, had worked at several restaurants as a cook, and recently sold health insurance. Shon accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and was a member of Covenant Praise Church. He ran AV (Addict Victorious) meetings at Covenant Praise Church as well as Grace City Church. He was a devoted father who was very involved in his kid’s sports activities. He loved all things technology and electronics. He especially loved his furry companion, Whiskey, that went everywhere with him. Shon’s greatest joy was spending time with his kids and grandkids, sharing in whatever they were doing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Glenda Hance; aunts, Laverna Quinton and Kate (Junior) Glore; cousins Mike (wife, Debbie) Burke and Mitchell Burke.
Shon is survived by his children, Kailey (husband, Tyler) Day of Cuba, MO, Jayden (wife, Kylee) Burke of Virginia, MN, Xander Burke of Hillsboro, MO and Rebekah Burke of Farmington, MO; step daughter, Abigale Ireland of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Penelope Day and Harrison Day; sister, Dawn Sue (husband, Delbert) Callahan of Cherryville, MO; special cousins Crystal and Jeremy Jackson of Steelville, MO; special friend Amanda Beth Jackson of Steelville, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Celebration of Life Service immediately followed at 7:00 PM with Pastor Jeremiah Wilson officiating. The family chose cremation as his final disposition. Memorials may be given to the family to help with final expenses.
