Stanley Scott Obituary

Stanley McRay Scott of Steelville, MO was born on Tuesday, June 15, 1937 in Flint, MI to Raymond “Stanley” Scott and Roberta “Bobbie” Josephine Scott (nee McIndoo).  He passed away at his home on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 18 days.

Stanley graduated from Steelville High School in the Class of 1955.  He then attended college at SEMO in Cape Girardeau, MO.  He had accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at an early age and was a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church.  Stanley joined the United States Navy and served his country honorably. He met the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Ann Miller Callahan while working at The Chemical Abstract Service and later married on June 27, 1970 in Columbus, OH.  In June of 1973, Stanley moved his family to Steelville and worked with his father at Steelville Supply Store in Steelville before purchasing it and taking over with his wife, Pat. They then expanded and had Scott’s True Value in St. James, MO.  He also was a department manager at Sears in O’Fallon, MO and was recruited to be a traveling Santa for malls in Iowa, Louisiana and California before retiring.  Stanley was a member of “Naturally Santa” based out of Colorado Springs, CO, a member of the American Chemical Society and TKE Fraternity.  He enjoyed woodworking; he assisted in making a dollhouse that will be displayed in a museum and also made doll furniture.  Stanley was very good with his hands and talented at anything he put his mind to.  He liked to go camping and backpacking, enjoyed building things, was an avid science fiction reader and liked computer programming.  He filled his dash between 1937 – 2022 with joy, laughter, adventures with family, friends and anyone who knew him well with his education, travel, great conversations and interesting work positions with interesting people.

He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Roberta “Bobbie” Scott; brother Richard Carl Scott; sisters-in-law Patricia Scott and Bonnie Scott; aunt Barbara (Frank) Johnson; cousins Frank Johnson and Kent Johnson.

Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Pat Scott of Steelville, MO; son Kevin Scott of Cape Girardeau, MO; step-son Allen (Michelle) Callahan of Summerville, SC; brother Lawrence “Larry” Scott of Macclenny, FL; 2 granddaughters; 4 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
