Terry Wayne Massey of St. James, MO, was born on Wednesday, February 28, 1962, in St. Louis City, MO, to James Alvin Massey and Elsie Gertrude Massey, nee Kelley. He passed away at Kindred Hospital St. Louis South in St. Louis, MO, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the age of 64 years, 2 months, and 23 days.
Terry was raised in Steelville, Missouri, where he also attended school. In his younger years, he embraced a spirit of adventure, traveling with the carnival.
On June 2, 1984, Terry married Robin Kay Wirz in St. James, Missouri. Together, they were blessed with two sons. Later that year, they moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where Terry worked installing and repairing outdoor sprinklers. After living in Fort Worth, Texas for three years, they relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, where Terry put his skills to use working in the maintenance department for the City of St. Petersburg.
In 1990, Terry returned home to Missouri. He was a dedicated worker who spent the following years providing maintenance for several local institutions, including Phelps Health and Meramec Spring Park, before eventually retiring from UMR. In addition to his maintenance work, Terry had a deep love for cooking and spent time working for the Douglas Company in St. James.
On June 13, 1995, Terry was united in marriage to Joby Edwina Mainer in St. James, Missouri. Together, they shared thirty years of marriage.
Terry loved the outdoors and he was happiest when he was fishing, camping, or simply hanging out by the river. He had a gift for gab and loved telling stories to anyone who would listen. Terry also believed in giving back to his community; he frequently volunteered his time at the VFW in St. James, where he could often be found cooking meals or helping with their various community programs. His warmth, storytelling, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
