Thomas James Fowler Sr.

Thomas James Fowler, Sr. of Cuba, MO was born on Sunday, April 23, 1944 in Oran, MO to William James Fowler and Madonna LaVern Tatum Fowler.  He passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO at the age of 76 years, 11 months, and 3 days.

He grew up in the Florissant, MO area and graduated from Central High School in 1961.  He married his first wife, Joan Blankenship Fowler, in 1961 and to this union 5 children were born.  He worked as a painter for years at Ford Motor Company and was a member of the UAW.  He retired from Ford in 1998. He married Doris Lee Hahn on February 14, 2006 in Warrenton, MO.  They made their home in Cuba, MO for 16 years.

He loved the outdoors and working on his land.  He liked gardening, raising both vegetables and flowers. He enjoyed boating on the Mississippi. He was an avid woodworker, making cabinets, hutches, signs, and various other wood items.  He had a compu-carver that allowed him to make unique pieces of furniture. Thomas also loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Madonna Fowler, first wife Joan Blankenship Fowler, parents-in-law Eugene Glen Hahn and Adele Plate Hahn Meyer, brother Mike (Veda) Fowler and sister Donna Fowler.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife Doris L. Fowler of Cuba, MO; children Julie (Gary) Burch and Thomas James Fowler, Jr. all of Riverview Gardens, MO and Susan (Jeff) Dean of Hazelwood, MO; sister-in-law Jean (Michael) Gori of TX; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed at 2:00 PM with Pastor Michael Stephens officiating.  Burial was at Fairclough Cemetery in Cuba, MO.
