Thomas "Tommy" Laycock, Jr. Obituary

Thomas “Tommy” Alexander Laycock, Jr. was born on Wednesday, September 7, 1938 in St. James, MO to Thomas Alexander Laycock, Sr. and Evelyn Beatrice Hogue Laycock.  He passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 11 days.

Tommy was raised in St. James, MO and graduated from St. James High School.  He worked as a Dairy Farmer for 30 years and at Intercounty Electric as a Lineman for 20 years. Tommy volunteered for 20 years at Phelps Health Hospital.  He later moved to Cook Station, MO.  Tommy loved to dance.  He enjoyed farming and baling hay.  But most of all, Tommy loved his family, kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Sr. and Evelyn Laycock; infant sister Mary Ann Laycock and sister Beulah Scott; brother-in-law Doyle Stites and sister-in-law Jane Laycock.

He is survived by his loving companion Jan Abernathy of Cuba, MO; children Tommie (John) Fester of Steelville, MO, Elizabeth (Joe) Wilson of Wichita, KS and Silas Laycock of Columbia, MO; grandchildren Mary Katherine (Chris) Barber of St. Louis, MO, Joshua Fester of Greeley, CO, Erin (Nick) Bouse of Columbia, MO, Zachary Fester of Houston, TX, Casey (Steve) Bellew of Winfield, KS, Chris (Janelle) Birkner, Kym Birkner, Bella Laycock, Lucian Laycock and Ariana Laycock all of Wichita, KS; great grandchildren Henry, Anne Marie, John James, Samuel, Tobie, Abbi, Beau, Kat, Evelyn, Reece, Sloane and James; siblings Tim Laycock and Jayne Stites of St. James, MO; brother-in-law Gary Scott of Chanute, KS; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO.  Funeral Service was at 12:00 PM with Rev. Spencer Hutson officiating.  Burial at Miles Cemetery, Saint James, MO.  Memorials were suggested to Miles Cemetery, Saint James, MO (c/o Lavern Parrish  16365 Co Rd 1030 St. James, MO 65559).
