Treff Olden Earney, Jr. of Steelville, MO was born on Wednesday, May 4, 1949 in Steelville, MO to Treff Olden Earney, Sr. and Norma Lee Gilmore Earney. He passed away at Cedar Pointe Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Rolla, MO on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 22 days.
Treff was a lifelong resident of Steelville, MO and graduated from Steelville High School in the Class of 1967. He then joined the United States Army where he served his country honorably during Vietnam. He married the love of his life, Sandra Kay Lea, on March 24, 1973 at First Baptist Church in Steelville, MO and to this union three children were born. He worked as a Trackman Driver for Frisco and Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroads until he retired. Treff accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at an early age and was a member of Deer Creek Church in Cuba, MO. Treff was a member of the American Legion Post #345, VFW Post #6479 and River Valley Custom Car Club. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, whether it was camping, bird hunting for quail and pheasants or deer hunting and socializing with his buddies. Treff loved old cars and going to car shows. Treff was a people person and never met a stranger. He loved his dogs, especially Beth. Treff enjoyed going to his family's sporting events. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Most of all, Treff just loved being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Treff, Sr. and Norma Lee Earney; parents-in-law Charles "Hack" and Etta "Verniece" Lea; siblings, Robert "Bob" (Olga) Earney, Alline (Isadore "Sody") Finocchiaro, Hester Sanders, Vivian (Jack) Barr and infant brother Billy C. Earney; sister-in-law Edna Earney; brother-in-law Dusty Frank.
Treff is survived by his wife Sandy Earney of Steelville, MO; children Eric (Melanie) Earney of Union, MO, Wayne (Karen) Earney of Wausau, WI and Lana (Matt) Mabe of Steelville, MO ; siblings Lloyd “Red” (Charlotte) Earney and Esther Frank all of Steelville, MO; brothers-in-law Gary Lea of Azle, TX and Howard Sanders of Steelville, MO; grandchildren Rylee and Landon Mabe, Hailey and Cammie Earney and Evelyn Earney; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
The family had a private graveside service at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Fort Leonard Wood with Pastor Tommy Miller officiating and full military honors. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Steelville High School FBLA or Deer Creek Church.
