Vesper Lee Brewer was born on Saturday, June 2, 1934, in Cuba, MO to Lawrence Edmond Brewer and Florence Grace Brewer, nee Carroll. He passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Owensville, MO at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 13 days.
Vesper attended school in Jakes Prairie, MO. He went to work for Convey Heel Company in Cuba, MO, running the heel stamp press machine. Vesper met Maxine Amanda Hutson while working at Convey and they were married on December 13, 1974, at Bible Baptist Church in Cuba, MO. After Convey, Vesper then worked for the City of Cuba Street Department driving a dump truck and road grader. He lived to hunt, especially with his beloved beagles. He coon hunted when he was younger, and rabbit hunted with Charles Cunningham. He loved to coyote hunt with his brother Stanley and deer and squirrel hunt with his grandson Mat. He also enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, and Gene Autry westerns. He loved spending time with his family, and he will be greatly missed by them and his friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Maxine A. Brewer; parents Lawrence and Florence Brewer; parents-in-law Gentry and Georgia Hutson; brother Lawrence (Betty Jo) Brewer and Stanley Brewer; sister Oneda “Neat” (Thurman) Chandler; brothers-in law Harvey (Bertha) Hutson, Roy (Hazel) Hutson, Owen Chandler, Roy (Hazel) Hutson, Lawrence Hutson, Carl Hutson, Louis (Juanita) Hutson, Harlan "Jack" Hutson, and Charles Hutson; sisters-in-law Ruthine (Bob) Prater and Wilma (Jerry) Shirley,
He is survived by his children Debbie (David) Crocker of Tyler, TX; son Donald Brockmeier of Cuba, MO; sister Patricia Chandler of St. James, MO; grandchildren Mathew (Rachel) Brockmeier, Randi (Mark) Spurgeon both of Cuba, MO, and Alex Bryan of Springfield, MO; great grandchildren Jacob Brockmeier, Tatum Brockmeier, Eli Brockmeier, Landin Spurgeon, Harper Spurgeon, Wyatt Spurgeon all of Cuba, MO, Charlotte Bryan, Dustin Bryan, and Adelaide Bryan all of Springfield, MO; sisters-in-law Mildred Brewer, Iona (Bill) Alvey both of Cuba, MO and Linda Hutson of Maplewood, MO; brother-in-law Richard Hutson of Cuba, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Rev. Spencer Hutson officiating. Burial was at Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, MO. Memorials were suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 2009-6011.
