Willard "Willie" Matthews Obituary

Willard “Willie” Quintin Matthews of Cuba, MO was born on Monday, March 7, 1960, in St. Louis, MO to Willard Nichols and Rosalie Louis Delaloye Nichols.  He died Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO at the age of 62 years, 6 months, and 13 days.

Willie lost his father as a young child and was raised by his mother Rosalie and stepfather James Matthews. He graduated from Pacific High School in 1978 and worked for Husky Corporation in Pacific for over 25 plus years as a CNC machine operator. He married the love of his life, Wanda Lynn Morgan, in Union, MO on April 4, 2009.  They lived in Villa Ridge, MO for several years and he helped raise her daughter.  They moved to Cuba, MO three years ago and loved visiting antique shops and finding special items for their home. He enjoyed remote control vehicles, watching wrestling on TV, and spending time with his dogs Waldo and Ellie Mae. He will be missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Willard Nichols; mother Rosalie Matthews; stepfather James Matthews; brothers Forest Matthews, Ralph “Matt” Matthews, and Modeste “Gene” Matthews; and son Russell Faircloth.

Willie is survived by his loving wife Wanda Matthews of Cuba, MO; daughter Susan (Caleb) Davidson of Camden, DE; daughter-in-law Courtney Hughes of Lawrenceville, VA; brother Perry Matthews of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren Idalynn Davidson of Camden, DE and David Faircloth of Lawrenceville, VA; special niece Tabetha Matthews of Williamsburg, MO; other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A private family Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. The family has chosen cremation as his final disposition.

Arrangements are under the care of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO.
