William "Bill" Franklin Powers of Cherryville, MO was born on Thursday, March 22, 1945 in St. Louis, MO to James Everett Powers and Myrtle Lulu (McKinnon) Powers. He passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at his home at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 26 days.
Bill graduated from Cuba High School and immediately joined the United States Army where he served honorably. He had accepted the Lord and was a member of St. James VFW #5608. He married Denise Lynn Miller on Monday, December 31, 1984 in Steelville, MO and to this they together raised 7 children. Bill was a Tree Trimmer at McDonald's Tree Service for over 25 years, then he and Denise ran their own business, D&B General Contractors until 1993. He enjoyed working on cars and fishing. He loved his dogs, especially his little dog, Jasmine. Most of all, Bill loved his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Myrtle Powers; father-in-law Charles Miller; infant brothers Paul Dean McDonald and James Powers; brothers James McDonald and John Powers; brother-in-law Steven Miller and nephew Joseph Powers.
He is survived by Denise Powers of Cherryville, MO; children Tammy (Chris) Schmidt of Villa Ridge, MO, Billy Powers, Jr. of Owensville, MO, April (Gil) Kennedy of Sullivan, MO, James Powers of Cuba, MO, Crystal Gibbs of St. Louis, MO, Justin (Anne) Gibbs of Walton, KY and Tiffany Powers of Steelville, MO; 18 grandchildren Christopher, Brock, Jackson, Brandi, Hannah, Jozy, Jenna, Fellica, Mchenzie, Timra, Chelsa, Brandon, Courtney, Stevi, Hunter, Peyton, Kahlynne and Addison; 6 great grandchildren Alex, Dylan, Kaison, Lydia, Bailey and Joey; brother Joe (Phyllis) Powers of Davisville, MO; mother-in-law Patricia Smith of Farmington, MO; brother-in-law of Tony (Sandy) Miller; sisters-in-law Anita (Robbie) Hicks of Farmington, MO and Stephanie Howard of Salem, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation was from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO. Funeral immediately followed with Bro. Shane Ryerson officiating. Burial was at Newburg Cemetery, Newburg, MO with full military honors. Memorials were suggested to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
