William David Cornick was born on Monday, June 19, 1944 in Steelville, MO to Claire Lester Cornick and Anna May Cornick (nee Pounds). He passed away at his home on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 2 days.
Dave was a lifelong resident of Crawford County and graduated from Steelville High School. He later joined the United States Army where he served our country honorably. Dave married Edith Hutson on May 24, 1969 at the Steelville Presbyterian Church and to this union four children were born. He was a carpenter by trade; he owned C&L construction, worked for Roy Earney, and later for Briggs & Stratton in Rolla, MO. He enjoyed fishing, gigging, hunting, and going to deer camp. Most of all, Dave loved his family and spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his father Claire Lester Cornick; mother Anna Brown; stepfather Clifford Brown; wife Edith Cornick; parents-in-law Santa and Rose Hutson; brother Jimmy Brown; brothers-in-law Ed Conaway, Ward Finney, Robert Hutson and Bob Phoenix; sisters-in-law Grace Rogers, Dovie Conaway, Marion Hutson, Pat (Richard) Ogle and Berniece Dierking.
Dave is survived by his children Michele “Shelly” (Martin) George of St. Louis, MO, Micheal “Mike” (Sherri) Cornick, Robert “Bob” (Christina) Cornick, and Melinda Cornick (Bill Hatfield), all of Steelville, MO; siblings Stanley (Pat) Brown of Ranchester, WY, Tom (Charlene) Brown, Jerry (Kay) Brown, and Barb (Richard) Pitts, all of Steelville, MO, John (Debbie) Brown and Mary (Clarence) Reeves, both of Cuba, MO, Ruthann Finney of Troy, MO and Betty (Roger) Brown of Sullivan, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Howard Hutson, Liz Phoenix, Ceil (Sidney) Ransom, all of Steelville, MO, Rainey (Brenda) Hutson of Cuba, MO and Jim Rogers and Ervin Dierking, both of Sullivan, MO; grandchildren Andrew Cornick, Taylor (Daulton) Conaway, Brandon Woodroffe, Alex George, Olivia George, Casey (Jed) Murri, Mackenzie (Levi) Beel, Morgan Cornick (Dakota Long), Chanda Cornick, Heather Cornick, Khoury Green, AnnaRose Cornick, Hannah Green, and Caiden Craig; great grandchildren Evangeline Cornick and Clementine Long; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Pastor Roger Silvey officiating. The service was live-streamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO’s Facebook page. Burial was at Cherryville Baptist Cemetery, with full military honors.
