Wilma “Darlene” Taber, nee Bobbitt, of Cherryville, MO, was born on Friday, July 24, 1942, in Davisville, MO, to Albert “Lee” Bobbitt and Gertrude “Gurty” Alvey Bobbitt, nee Callahan. She passed away at her home on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 20 days.
Darlene attended school in Cherryville and then moved to St. Louis where she worked at a convent with her sisters, Bonnie and Rainey. She came back home and went to work putting soles on shoes for Brown Shoe Company in Steelville, MO. She met the love of her life, William “Everett” Taber whom she married on May 15, 1971 at the courthouse in Steelville and to this union two daughters were born. She had accepted the Lord and previously attended church in Davisville. Darlene loved watching Hallmark movies, reading, camping, flower gardening, cooking, and baking. Most of all, she adored spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William “Everett” Taber; parents, Lee and Gurty Bobbitt; parents-in-law, Everett Elda and Loretta Jane Taber, nee Durbin; siblings, Louie (Carolyn) Bobbitt, Jack (Vera) Bobbitt, Bonnie (Gerry) Langley, Betty (Chester) Bryant, Joe Bobbitt and Marie (Ralph) Vaughn; brothers-in-law, James Haskell Pinnell and Roger Taber.
Darlene is survived by her loving daughters, Christina (Drew) Pontious of Steelville, MO and Cheryl (Chris) Brown of Cherryville, MO; stepchildren Janice Brummett of Cuba, MO and William “Bill” Taber of Eureka Springs, AR; siblings, Lorraine Pinnell of Villa Ridge, MO and Jim Bobbitt of Salem, MO; sisters-in-law, Dixie Bobbitt of Cherryville, MO, Janet Taber of Cuba, MO and Linda (Larry) Branson of Keysville, MO; grandchildren, Zachary Farmer, Chelsea Taber, Dani Joe Bryant, Jordan Gilliam, Tyler Pontious (fiancée Courtney Burbridge), Kiara Brown (fiancé David Hosiner) and Infinity Brown; great grandchildren Waylon Pontious and Blakeley Shoemake; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00 PM with Pastor Frannie Evans officiating. Burial was at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Cuba, MO.
